LS XJ2025H used vs. new. Is this a deal???

Haven't negotiated with either. More of a apples:apples asking price question. I did get the price on the same new model with the midmount mower, and we're talking a total of $3,500 difference after tax or 20% difference.

What do you mean by the "I would also highly think about a MMM on a tractor like that?". Are you suggesting the MMM isn't a good idea? I was steered by the forum towards a MMM on a tractor this size for my needs of establishing a lawn around the house and grass seeding further out on 3.5 acres of old farm land. Suggestion was this size tractor would be the right fit, and a MMM would be preferable to a RFM given the mowing around the house.

Guess it depends on what your mowing, I didnt see other forums. I have a Kubota 2650 similar size maybe a little big bigger. I just mowed about 3 acres with a pull behind took me 3-4 hours, would have taken half that with a zero turn. I dont want to be a homer but a ZTR is the way to go, unless your talking untamed grass land etc, then maybe a MMM, but if its rough tough tall stuff maybe a pull behind cutter instead I dont know.

Also look for used implements as well.

No worries and got ya. Just wanted to make sure I understood so I could better make a decision. Yes, definitely agree with you. We're building on old farm land that has a mix of wild parsnip and all kinds of other fun weeds about 4ft high right now. My goal is to use the tractor and rotary cutter to knock it all down for now, box grade close to the house and seed this fall, and then work on the rest of the 3 acres or so to till, box grade, and seed with a fescue or hay grass away from the house. Short term, it will be rotary cutter, followed by MMM around the house and rotary cutter out, followed by (hopefully) MMM for everything until it gets nice and established, and then I can decide on a potential ZTR.

Looked at both the new 2018 XJ2025 and the used one this weekend. First, looked at the new one yesterday and spoke with the owner of the dealership, who is an incredibly knowledgable and good guy. Spent a lot of time with my wife and I chatting through the model. I had already mentioned to him the used one earlier in the week, and it turns out he knew the seller because he had sold him the tractor new.

Went and looked at the used one today, and the seller is a real stand-up guy too. Looking for something bigger. Took a look around, and everything looked in really good shape and only has 55.7 hours on it. We agreed on $13,000, which seems like a really fair price for both of us. Dealer agreed to pick it up from the seller later this week and do a complete service on it to make sure everything is 100% good to go. He also agreed to hold it until our house is finished next month, and then deliver to the new place. We just need to decide whether we're ok with keeping it outside in the elements for the next month (I know, new ones stay out too) or if we want to have it delivered to my wife's sister's to store in their garage and give our brother-in-law the first crack at moving some dirt.

That dealer sounds like a great one to have. I am impressed. Don't worry about it being in the sun. I am considering that same tractor. A dealer in Athens AL has a good price on a package deal.

I buy used all the time. I store my machines year round outdoors. What are you afraid of. At 50hours all that machine might need is its first engine oil change.
