Welcome to TBN! I have a LS XR4046 which is the brother to the 4040. Great machine to have. I just did the 500 hr service on it, and it has been trouble free. I had 1 small leak which was fixed by my dealer at the 50 hr service. I keep the rpms around 2000 or more, and it regens about every 4 hrs. The only way I know it happens is by the dash lights. No effects while working it.

My XR4040 has 560hrs on it. I'm a little worried about the the then cycle. You yours regens every 4hrs, but mine runs about 2-2 1/2 hrs before it regens and the other day it took 4hrs to complete a regen. I'm not sure why it took so long, but I have replaced fuel filters since then so we'll see if that will help it take less time.

Congrats on your new to you tractor and welcome to TBN.
Generally it regens every 4-5 hours. It should NOT take 4 hrs to regen but should complete in 40 min. or less. When it does regen you need to keep the RPM's up (between 23-2500). It needs the higher RPM to regen efficiently. Idling or running just above is not good to do on a regular basis. These engines are meant to run at higher RPM's. I have the XR3037HC little brother to your 4040 with the same engine. Once warmed up I generally run between 22-2400RPM. Only a little over 300 Hrs on mine but main use for mine is winter snow plowing.

I am thinking about deleting the dpf, biggest reason is that this is a gear tractor and using the loader a lot.that means I have to park the tractor and run it on high rpm.
