Thanks all. Was able to get it out today. Had to find a smaller socket to maneuver in to get to the nut to get the ECU off.

New question now. When I pulled the battery out, I noticed a cable (pictures) that as best I can tell wasn't attached anywhere. I'm about to go do some research, but can anyone tell me what this cable is? Is it something I didn't see attached to the ECU Somewhere or was.it truly just sitting loose back there behind the battery? It's yellow if that matters.

That doesn't look factory. I'm assuming you didn't purchase this tractor new? Can you follow the wire and see where it goes?

I did not buy it new. Bought it about a year and a half ago. One previous owner. Had ~400 hours when I got it. I didn't think it looked like it came off of anything I have disassembled. I'll see if I can trace it a ways and find out where it goes.

Also, really appreciate your help on this. I"m obviously new to this sort of stuff. Are there any good youtube resources for basic tractor maintenance type work just to familiarize myself with how to do the basics of maintenance and care?

Honestly, you're in the right place for that kind of thing, especially tractor specific. The folks here are a huge wealth of knowledge and most are eager to help. However, if you're looking for videos specifically, obviously check out mine (but I don't really do "how-to" videos), check out channels like Tractor Time with Tim, Tractor Mike, Messicks has a good how-to list, probably a few others. Its been a while since I've watched other content creators as I am busy with my own projects.

Asking a question like that on this forum will generate a huge response. In fact this question was asked on here a while back.

Thanks!

To end the saga here, I got the battery out. Got a new one from AutoZone, and am back up and running.

Now that I've found this place, I'd guess I'll be around more trying to learn. Thanks everyone!

A secondary ground cable? Any high draw after-market electric stuff installed? if you can't trace out that wire, check for continuity to the frame (or a bolt) to see if it is a ground.

Morning, I have an XR4046 and am probably going to replace the battery. Which new battery did you install in your 4046? Looking at LS's online parts listing, it shows the following: BATTERY-MF-TRG740.
