LT 1050 usefull life

The average usefull life expectancy rating only has to do with the EPA certification. It has nothing to do with liability. The only liability Cub Cadet has is to honor the warranty as described in the statement. As for parts, you'll always be able to get them. They still supply parts for machines built 40 years ago, and most of the parts are used on multiple models built over a span of several years. How long the tractor will last depends mostly on the kind of terrain you are mowing and how well is is taking care of. I've seen 1000 series tractors get ragged out after 100 hours and I've seen them still look brand new with over 500. It all depends on the user.

Then again, any spec for emissions compliance longevity would be given by the engine manufacturer, not MTD/CC. New parts on the shelf for 40yr/old lawn/garden tractors?? Possibly by chance, new old stock stuff. Tell that to a IH/Cub garden tractor owner who needs a steering gear, etc.. Ain't gonna happen. Normal wear items like seals, bearings, spindles yes. Obscure stuff like linkages, levers, housings/castings? Highly unlikely. I've been there before.

Parts for the older IH Cubs are slowly and surely being discontinued by MTD. While there will be a plentiful supply of used parts for Cubs for decades to come, new parts won't be available forever.

While the life expectancy figure might be true for emissions compliance, Cub would be under no obligation to have to publish that in the manual. Is the EPA going to come to your house and do an exhaust sniff test on your lawn mower if its more than 7 years old or tell dealers they are not allowed to repair an engine with more than 270 hours on it?

I think the real reason its in the manual is so that owners of new 1000's, Cub's entry level tractors, won't expect for them to last forever. For instance when their 1042 dies at 500 hours, they don't come back and cry to Cub that their grand-dad's 1976 model 1450 is still going strong, trying to compare a light duty lawn tractor to a much stouter garden tractor. They are saying okay Mr. Customer, if you got 7 years or 270 hours out of this machine, you are on par with its average life expectancy so don't complain.
