A VERY SMALL AMOUNT of never seize is appropriate,

Dab the male thread, run the plug in and out a few times.

Wipe the business end if there is any visible excess.

Hold back on any "dry torque" specification. Use the "seated plus 1/4 turn" tightening protocol.

My preference for anti-seize on hot items is a hi-temp nickle based product.

My favorite is hard to find and they have changed the formula over the years,
Chesterton Spray Nickel was expensive but worked good.

I use copper anti-seize on spark plugs in aluminum heads.
Although not as stellar as nickel,it would also work well in this application.
Good Luck!

if you put the anti seize on the male thread only, excess will remain externally rather than internal as well, not that it would make much difference.
good luck

I joined BenzWorld forum & I was told to used this ceramic paste. FCP also carries it.
It was a multi day project getting 3 of the glow plugs out so as some as I get this I’ll pull them & give them some LUV!!

I should do a better job of proofreading before posting. 🙄

I recently removed & reinstalled 6 glow plugs & injectors on two E320 Mercedes diesels & must say it was a learning experience!!
Carbon buildup due to a leaking injector seal or improper installation is what causes all the problems. The ceramics paste is applied to the threads and body of the GP’s and injectors to minimize the formation of hard carbon which effectively causes the body’s to get stuck.
The injector hold down screws are torque to yield to accommodate the expansion differences of a steel injector in a deep aluminum head bore to maintain clamping pressure on seal.
Time & patience and a very keen feel to avoid too much force is key to removal without breakage.
It took 29 hours to remove two stuck injectors on one vehicle.
However the labor cost was certainly cheaper than damaging an injector or cylinder head.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve had a challenge of this nature but was very satisfying to complete it with no damage to hardware.
Customer was happy because his research described how it can go wrong.
Feeling good with the results!!

I use CRC nickel anti seize on all the nuts and bolts, unless it calls for thread locker. You just have to lower your torque about 10% when using antiseize. It changes the coefficient of friction and you can overtorque fasteners. You can break or strip them out. I use it on all metal fasteners to make it easier to remove them, keeps them from rusting.
