Lugs and lug nuts

This is one of those idiot questions I hate to ask, but here goes... At first it wasn't a problem. When removing a front wheel only a couple of the lugs would come out when I removed the lug nuts. But this time ALL of the studs came out, and it's going to be a wrestling match to hold the wheel in place while fumbling with the nut and lug combo. Do the rest of you use locktite? If so, does it work in the cold?

I don't think loctite has any problem working in the cold. I just like to hit everything with some brake clean before hand to remove all of the oil. You might want to use the loctite 271 which is red. This stuff will not come off without applying some heat. It's specifically for use on studs where you want the nut to break loose first. I seem to own, or have owned a lot of vehicles that like to vibrate stuff off so I use loctite on just about everything.

Here's a trick to get the wheel back on without having to juggle the wheel and a stud to get one back on. Find 2 bolts of the appropriate and thread them in from the back and use them to support the wheel while starting the other studs, then remove them and insert the studs from the front. By all means use locktite to hold the studs in place for the next time and I don't beleive the cold will affect the hold.

Why not just just put two nuts on the stud, lock them, thread and tighten the stud in place and then remove the nuts before replacing the wheel.
