LX6 or SE6 ?

I am new to the board and I am trying to decide on a rotary cutter. The SE6 is $1200 and the LX6 is $1500. Is the green paint worth the extra money? Do these prices sound about right?

I really liked the looks of the MX6, but I'm being told that my 4400 won't pull it very well. Has anyone pulled the MX6 with a 4400?

LX6 is the way to go....Its not just the paint....years from now...Deere will more than likely be around...not so sure about the others....example Woods has recently changed ownership again.... Parts etc..will be needed some day...

Remember the price or cost of anything is not what You pay initially for it...unless you plan on throwing it away...

Investment/cost/Price..

price paid + repair cost + Maintenance cost - selling cost or trade cost = actual cost...

Price seems high shop around....Dealers who sell large quantities of Deere Cutters normally have better pricing....extra discounts...

Yeah, edv is right. My dealer quoted me $1300 on the LX6

The prices that were quoted, for both the Rhino and the JD, included the slip-clutch and the laminated tail wheel. The prices at different JD dealers have ranged from $1500 to $1640. I must be shopping at the wrong Deere stores.

Yup, that's std. equip. My dealer is in SW Missouri.

I am still debating the MX5 vs LX6...
LX6 is $1317 special order
MX5 is $1400 in stock

we're mowing pasture so the LX oughtta be heavy enough.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

FWIW, the JD literature for the MX and LX series cutters says that the laminated tail-wheel and the slip-clutch are std. on the MX, and optional on the LX.

I really want the MX6, but it might be to heavy for a 4400. Mowing tall grass is what we do most of the time, and I agree with you. The LX will probably handle it.

If I have to go with a lighter mower, I was considering the SE6 and wondered if they were good mowers.

The slip clutch is extra even on the MX6. It was a $300 option. The laminated tail wheel is standard though I think. Didn't price the LX6 but the MX6 is around $2300 list with the clutch I believe.
