I have heard that a x13 mower is a waste of time. I guess the LXx series replaced it. How are they? I want to do pasture mowing of grass, I have a 4' BushHog (brand) for the "bad" stuff...

I looked at KK /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif , Modern /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, others that cost more than Green /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can't find Midwest 'round here (yet!) I am trying...

One thing I want is easy hookup, So Mrs Rockyridge can go mow, if she wants to (why stop her?) Seems like the mower is always off when she wants it...

I've used a MX5 mower behind my 4300 for about a year now and it has been a fine mower. It is a brute though, tough and heavy. I have used a TSC quick hitch with it. It saves some work hooking it up, but does not fit as nice as the JD I-MATCH hitch.

I have the 513 for my 4300, and wouldn't want to change to a 613 (becuase of weight). Also, the 513 (lighter weight than the Deere MX5) needed some reinforcement on the back side where backing into brush (mostly digging into dirt) causes the steel to bend. I welded square tubing on the lower edge, and it works great now.

If I would do anything different, it would be to go to the MX5. They are built stronger (but I am happy with the brush cutting ability of my 513).

I also would support the I-match approach. Then the only hassle is sliding the PTO onto the tractor. (someday the PTO will slide onto the tractor at the same time!) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
