I'm looking to purchase a mower that I can use to mow my pastures and ditches on my property. I've looked at the specs on both the LX6 and MX6 - it looks like I'd be better off with the MX6. Any thoughts on this? Also, what kind of pricing should I be expecting?

Thanks for your help!

I looked at the MX6 a few months ago. The best price I could get was around $2100.

I would definitely go medium duty, I did. I wound up going with a Woods720 in the end though.

I really like my MX6 - it is stout. It will eat trees and a bunch of other stuff that you didnt 'know you had in those ditches. The LX-6 is a good machine, but I would only use it for mowing pastures, etc.

Hi Bob!

The LX6 is OK for mowing large lawns. I have a friend who mows his runway, it would be really nice for that.

But in the real world, all you have to do is swing wide once and smack a fence pole with it, and you'd sure wish you had the MX. Your machine will certainly handle it nicely.

Thanks everyone - I've been reading the stats and think the MX6 is the way to go... but $2500 is what I'm getting quoted and that seems stiff. I'd prefer to stick to green though on this one...

Mike, is that price out-of-line?

$2500 is way high.... Just so you know JD doesn't make their own MX6s... They are sub-contracted to someone else... Just can't remember the name.

The subcontractor's name is Deere&Co. Welland Works. Welland Ontario Canada.

I'll check on the price... I paid $2100 but that was a year ago....

Mike-

I've checked around and the cheapest I've found now is $2200 (without setup, $2300 with). Highest is still $2500. I'm set on getting one but will go with the lower price unit and it's pretty close to me.

Do you know if setup is challenge with the MX6 and is it worth the extra $100 to have it done prior to me arriving to pick it up?

Thanks!

I think you can set it up yourself! I think that all that is required is putting the 3 point assembly and tailwheel on.... Also there are front and rear guards - make sure that they are included. Even though they are 'Standard' the dealer can delete them....

Don't forget that part of "set-up" is adding oil to the gearbox. They are shipped dry from the factory!
