Hi all,
Ive just recently purchased a New Holland LX885. For the most part it runs great, but just recently, it started acting up. Sometimes while running, the computer will restart. Ill see all the lights go on and hear it go through the same beep sequence as when I fist climb into the machine. When this happens and I am operating, the boom hydraulics will lock up and the seat belt light will flash until I have recycled the seat belt in and out. Once I have refastened that everything will work until the problem occurs again. Sometimes, the entire machine shuts off as well, but not nearly as often. I haven't noticed a pattern based on temperature or humidity, my only thought is vibration. I'm wondering if the computer may have a loose solder joint, and if so, what to do. A new board costs in the realm of 1000. Please offer opinions and advice, I'm too far from a dealer and am trying hard not to spend 1000. Thanks!

You may be better off to post in the construction section. Yes your computer my have a problem or maybe it just needs to get reflashed [reprogrammed] at the dealer.

Good luck

Lift the seat and check the seat switch, be sure it's not loose or partially plugged in, inspect the connection for corrosion.
The seat switch is where it all begins on these NH's when weight gets on the seat it should activate the dash panel then you should have to buckle the seat belt to be able to start it. Unless it's in service mode.
If it's rough terrain and your bouncing up off the seat will do it as well.
Good luck to you, electrical on these skid steers can make you wanna pull your hair out.

Checking the seat switch(es) is good advise. But I think the culprit this time is the seat belt buckle switch. If the board lights up consistently every time you put pressure on the seart switch(es), I'd buy a new seat belt assembly before anything else. or ohm out the belt buckle switch to see if it is consistent.

Thanks, this is all great advice. One more important symptom that I forgot is that everytime the board flashes it wipes the hours.. Any ideas?

Yeah thats a good possibility, do you have any ideas as to which grounds i should check first? Ive already checked the battery, the teather from the engine to the main breakers and all the breakers.

If I remember correctly there is a ground bundle bolted to the bellhousing. You may have to raise the seat to find them. There also is a ground bundle behind the circuit board/instrument panel/display ( I think) The fact that it is dumping the accumulated hours sounds more like a computer problem than a ground, although checking grounds is always a good idea. The computer's non-volitile memory should retain hours data regardless of external connections. Ag Express does repairs on these boards (when possible) for much less than new replacement cost.
