Lxxxx 3PH Jerky Operation

Nope. I bought a new L3400 about a month ago and it jerks. I pinched down quite a ways on the hydraulic valve just in front of the seat on the floor, and it seemed to help. That said, the jerk doesn't bother me like it does some folks. With all of the great features of the L3400, I can live with it.

If you are considering a purchase, read on, otherwise dont waste your time on this reply.

When I began using my L3700SU, I questioned this issue to this forum. It was not as bad as the youtube videos I had seen, but I was using a box blade and not a sprayer or post digger. Now that I have over 55 hours as a 'weekend warrior', I can tell you it does not bother me. I notice it far less and it could be due to my work habits changing. The RPM's are up now and the tractor is in constant motion rather than me paying too close attention to details while stopped. Most of the time the movement is made when the blade is engaged with dirt and that seems to dampen it. I would advise you to evaluate it yourself since it seems to be a subjective degree of frustration. I am very pleased with the tractor and now my attention is more on the width to center of gravity ratio, I work on unlevel ground (created by me) and dont yet have a feel for how steep is too steep. I know there are angles of tolerances in the manual, but I dont have an artificial horizon mounted on my tractor, maybe I should. So, I advise you to get a feel on uneven ground as well. Good luck in your testing.

PS = (ranting): the vacuum trick i learned here to change the filters at 50 worked very well, otherwise the stuff pours out like a fire hydrant, giving you no time to check the magnet for shavings. Research in this forum has been well worth the time I have spent here, but there is no substitute for experience. The two work well together.

Thanks for the reply Don and InThePines but I'm wondering if the new L3200/L3800 models have resolved the issue. If I understand the models correctly the L3700 is based on the L2800/L3400 technology.

I misread your initial post and thought you were asking about the L2800/L3400.
Sorry about that. but I'm guessing if the issues had been addressed on any of them, it would have been addressed on all of them.

Happy tractoring,

Interesting - I just changed the hydro filter on my L4200 on Sunday. Spun the old one off and spun the new one on. I found the squirting to be quite tolerable, although the tractor was ice-cold at the time. I'd say I lost a quart at most.

We lose about a quart on our L5030 which I find quite acceptable.

I will admit, this was my first experience with changing a filter without draining the fluid. First time I have had to deal with looking at, cleaning and reinstalling a magnet all while the fluid was draining. From my limited perspective, the amount could have been massive compared to a typical oil change where the amount is zero. There was a big difference in the flow when the vacuum was in proper position.
