3-Point Hitch M-59 and Wallenstein BX-62 Hydraulic Feed

Based on the M59 hydraulics parts diagram from Messicks, it sure looks there are two levers on the back of the tractor just like the L39 for switching the hydraulics to the backhoe. So I still say you can use the swing pump circuit to run the chipper feed and you do not need hydraulic remotes.

Hi All,

Just thought I'd update folks on what I ended up with. After a few back and forths with my dealer and the Kubota folks it was a simple matter of getting new couplers and using the backhoe ports.

When I need to use the chipper I spin my seat around, pull the PTO <-> Backhoe levers to Backhoe mode, and engage the PTO drive. Everything worked great. A couple of things to note:

1. With the hydraulic hoses connected, the 3-PT lower link hydraulics won't work. You need to disconnect the hoses (making sure to put the hydraulic levers back into PTO mode. Not a big deal but it going to take me a few times to get into the habit.

2. The hoses and couplers get pretty hot after running the chipper and feeder for awhile - about 45 minutes. Probably less than 150 F but I'm just guessing. I'm presuming this is normal, but being a hydraulic newbie I figured I'd ask :).

Thanks again for all the feedback, ideas, and help! This is a fantastic resource!

Cheers,
Chris.

I've included some pics:

150 isn't bad for the connectors. You can always get a ir temp gun and know for sure what they are running temp wise.

Ok, now how about a review of the chipper w/ feed.

You are dead heading the swing pump. That is why the oil is getting hot. DO NOT push in both backhoe mode levers. Facing the back of the tractor, I believe the lever on the right is for the main pump. Push in that one to use the feeder. Pull out the leaver on the left.

This is why I suggested you use the swing pump connection rather than the main pump connection. However, you do not have to disconnect the hoses to use the three point, just pull out the back hoe mode lever.

Thanks Stonehaller, I'll try that out. I didn't realize those levers could be operated independently.

Yeah - that was what I tried. It didn't matter what mode the levers were in the 3-pt lift wouldn't work with the hoses connected.

Cheers,
Chris.

If you move the lever with the tractor idling, you should be able to hear the difference in load on the tractor.

Chris.

Must be that with the lever out, the 3 point and backhoe pressure connections are teed together internally so the chipper feed still ends up dumping all the pressure. You should only have to disconnect the pressure feed (blue) connector.

If you ever get tired of having to disconnect the hose to use the 3 point, then you could change the coupler on the hose so you could plug it into the swing pump (red) connection instead of the main (blue) connection.

Yeah - I'm going to pick up a new coupler and try it on the swing pump tomorrow when they are open!

Thanks Stonehaller.
