M.F 1643..Can the pto works without sitting on

I used the bungee cord idea so that my daughter could run the tractor. She was certainly old and mature enough but very small for her age. Didn't weigh enough to keep it running while in gear and had to sit on the front of the seat to reach the pedals. (engine would shut off w/o operator in seat while in gear)

I use a small piece of light weight wire to hold the sensor down. Easy to put on and take off. I do believe that the Jumper cable is actually easier and cleaner, and will be using that in the future. If I can get to the connectors.

Hi everyone. Soon my new 1643 will arrive....but with all the safety devises they put on the new tractors, I,m asking myself CAN THE P.T.O. WORKS WITHOUT BEING ON THE DRIVER SEAT??? If you are on neutral you can leave the seat but if the PTO is engaged you cannot leave, the engine will stop. I need the tractor to winch trees and it is not safe to stand on the tractor while logging with the winch...or if you use a poll digger you need to be in the back of the tractor with the PTO running. So how do you do that???? I,ve seen a little white plastic arm that depressed when you seat, do we need to fix that little arm down so this ***wise** seat will think we are seating on the tractor or do we need to do something else.
With my 1959 Oliver there was no such safety devises .....was there any safety devises lol lol
I,m counting the days for the arrival of my new 1643.

Are you talking about a post hole digger? If you are, why do you need to be off of the tractor while it is in operation? It IS NOT SAFE TO BE AROUND A PHD WHILE IT IS IN OPERATION. Not trying to be harsh here , just stating some facts.

You are right, to use my post digger I,m on the seat.....I wrote this by mistake. Thanks for your concern and advise.
But to use my Farmi logging winch I do not want to be on the seat, if a log get stuck, and I,m sitting while hitting on my face to take the mosquitos away, I do not want to try the ROPS resistance:D:D
Yesterday I sat on my **TOY** at the dealer:thumbsup:. will have it next week. I lift the seat and it will be easy to have a little wire holding the seat switch down while logging and take it off for all the other uses. Have a nice day. It will be fun ryding a NEW tractor for the first time in my life, But I,ll be missing old Oliver..it has been faithfull.
