I was told on my M4900 by a family member that ideally you should decrease RPMs when going from forward to reverse or vice versa because it was hard on the clutch and it would wear it out. This is mainly with PTO speeds above 2000 rpms.

Any truth to this? I can't imagine resetting the hand throttle to PTO rpms all the time.

The lower the RPM the less wear you will have on the clutch when changing directions.
