I was planning on replacing the coolant on my M59 this weekend. Before I got started I searched for the engine coolant drain valve but could not find it.

Does any know where the engine coolant drain is located on the M59?
Thanks for the help

Why are you changing antifreeze? I never change antifreeze on a new vehicle that I maintained unless I am using a specialitly coolant such as my 03 Cobra. I would only change antifreeze on a used vehicle I bought, because I could not be sure the atifreeze was maintained.

Every year I add a jug of Prestone AS117 Super Radiator Anti-Rust - 14.5 oz to all the vehicles with radiators I own (total of nine). I buy by the case!

Never had a overheating problem water pump go or corroision for more than a decade.

I seldom change hydraulic fluid if I don't have to either. I use synthetic, change filters and only change oil if contaminated. 5500 hours on my excavator, change fluids every 1000 hrs.

Prestone AS117 Super Radiator Anti-Rust - 14.5 oz.

The tractor is used, 4 years old, and It looks like there is some 'sludge' in the overflow tank. It needs it.

There is one. The drain is a bolt and gasket type - like an engine oil drain plug rather than a petcock. Although invisible without knowing where it is, it is actually it's in a convenient protected place. You can get to it easily without removing any bodywork. It's recessed into a large round hole punched into the steel plate that supports the bottom of the radiator. The location is above the front axle next to the frame. On mine it is right above a model sticker on the right side of the tractor. (the "offside" if you're a horseman.)

Sounds like yours needs a good flush and refill. Do you use any of the diesel additives in the cooling fluid? I haven't put them in the Kubota, but run them in my Ford diesel truck.

Found it! Thanks! It is now flushed and filled. The drained fluid looked to be in very good shape (no rust). At least I know it is done right and I know how when the next flush and change should be.

THanks for the help:thumbsup:

Anti-freeze is an often neglected item, always a good idea to change especially on a used unit with unknown history.

Sludge is a good indication that new stuff is needed

My 2005 L39 with 1610 hrs tank is clean as new, thanks to anti rust addiitve every year.
