Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Not one that I would turn down.

Hi, I'm a bit late coming to this party.

I've got the M6800HD with the LA1162 loader. Note both the hydraulic shuttle and the upgraded loader which add somewhat to the cost so be sure to compare apples-to-apples.

I really like both the hydraulic shuttle and the loader. I settled on the M6800 rather easily but agonized over these choices for a while. The hydraulic shuttle is probably not a big deal for a tractor that is going to be utilized primarily at the 3pt but my plan was to straddle ag tractor/bobcat functionality. With my loader and loader attachment percentage usage probably above average for an ag tractor, the LA1162 was a good choice - you seem to be contemplating a similar thing by your questions. The self-leveling feature is great for fork use. Besides the bucket I also use a tree puller device, boom pole and snow plow on the loader arms.

Here, there, and everywhere...

Original dealer supplied bucket with loader (not local dealer)
Local Kubota dealer supplied Woods forks
Ebay for skidsteer type 8' snow plow with hydraulic angle
Manufacturer in Canada (Scissons) for tree puller

just curious, what exactly do you do with the tree puller, logging?

   / m6800 price #17
The tree puller is really for a use situated in between mowing and logging - brush to small (4-5" max) trees. I have a number of areas too overgrown for a rotary cutter but not heavy enough to be "logged" the tree puller is perfect for that. Also - it leaves no roots so the land can be more easily cultivated.

$1100 delivered in 2002. On the one hand quite a bit. On the other hand (1) I sketched it, brought it to a local fab shop and they wouldn't touch that price and (2) trucking at today's rates from Ontario, CA to NH, USA would probably be around $300 so the manufacturer is grossing $750-800. I don't think that's too unreasonable for a low-volume high-quality implement.
