M7040 rear remotes and how they work

The Kubota factory QD allows for plugging/unplugging hoses merely by pushing in on hose to plug-in and pulling out on hose to unplug. Not all QD's operate in this fashion. On some QD's one has to move collar with one hand while plugging in hose with other hand. This may explain the extra length you were asking about.

One important point: the "push and release" QDs work much, much easier if the pressure is off. Turn the engine off and cycle the control levers back and forth a couple of times to relieve the pressure.

The one set of QDs on this tractor work the correct way. Got no issue with that, but this extra length makes me think there is something extra to them, maybe flow issues.

I just went out and better analyzed worked how these are working, without actually trying to use the tractor. The factory remote, although fast, I can live with.

The 2nd remote, is a problem. The problem is really in the very hard to work though detent in this valve, and it is also simply hard to move even off the neutral position. If the detent was only very slight, I could perhaps live with it too. Is there a way to do that?? Really don't like the non return to neutral once past the detent either, it returning there only when the cylinder is at full extent, but if I move the 2nd to the side tilt, I can work around that.

At a minimum I'm going to switch the cylinders to the remotes and add QDs of the size I want. BTW....neither of these valves have float.

The additional QD length is because of the push-pull- self release in emergency (forget to unplug) QD. It has nothing to do with flow control to the best of my knowledge. These type of QDs are very common on Deluxe tractors.

If you are going to change-add std type QDs, you may want to check into the units that have a push-pull sleeve. This std type of QD end makes connecting-disconnecting a little easier in my opinion and are only a couple of dollars more. The collar can move in both directions to be able to un-couple instead of having to only move the sleeve in one direction.

Just a thought. ;)

Didn't know they existed. Pushing on the collar, then pulling on the hose can be a stubborn task at times.

You have any links to that type QD? Any idea what they are called?

Short compact and cheap. I like it. I'll buy some.

On my L3240 the QD collar is clamped by the mounting bracket. Push the hose to connect, Pull the hose to disconnect. Always stop the motor and run a couple of cycles with the hydraulic controls to release the pressure. If the equipment is left in a location where it gets heated (Usually in the sun) the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder and hoses expands and makes it difficult to reattach. Do not leave the cylinder at either extreme. You may have to hit the ball on the end against something (hammer) or loosen the coupler to release the pressure. Either way it is messy.
