M7040 vs JD 5325

The dealer filled the rear tires on my M7040 before delivery. I can overfill the bucket with dirt/topsoil with absolutely no problem in terms of rear weight. I expected to need a Box balde or some other weight on the rear like our other tractors, but none is needed. Without a doubt, this tractor exceeds my expectations in performance. It is smoother, stronger, and more stable than any other tractor I have ever used. A couple of things I love - The PTO engagement and 4WD engagement are fantastic.

Although I realize prices are very regional, the price from your Kubota dealer still seems just a little high to me. When I was shopping for my M7040, I received quotes from 4 dealers as follows: $35,000, $35,000, $35,700, $36,000 (all plus tax). This was for the cab, Kubota loader, and hydraulic shift. This was before any negotiation - just quotes over the phone. I ended up getting it for $34,970 INCLUDING tax. I'm not sure if your quote includes any additional options or if it includes tax. If it does, then it may not be a bad price.

The quote does include rear axle extensions as I am concerned about stability, cd radio, cab, hydraulic shuttle and R1 which I may change to R4.

The kubota also has cast rear rims with R1s.

I'd do what BillyP suggested and also make myself a list of features that are most important to me and give them a value. Leave the price difference alone for now...just concentrate on the features you really want and how each model stacks up in that department.
Just for example, if a loader is a must...gotta have, so it rates a 10...whereas a swivel seat is not so important so it rates a 2. Then determine how each machine meets your most critical needs...category for category. In other words, if the loader is the most...absolute important thing for you, then whichever one has the best loader has some meaning behind it now.
Then you will have made a "choice" or "determined" which is best for you...aside from price.
Last, compare the difference in price to see if it's worth it to you...?
Sometimes you may be pleasantly surprised that the less expensive machine fits...meets your REAL needs and desires more anyway so then there will be no choice at all.
