My brand new tractor has 6 hours on it and the hydrostatic transmission takes a few seconds to engage in reverse. When I go from neutral to forward it engages fine but when I go from neutral to reverse it will sit there up to 5 seconds and then spin the tires and take off. It's still under warranty but I wanted some advice before hand. Anyone know why this might be before I have the dealer come and get it?

get the dealer, its nothing you have done or can fix. the control for the forward reverse needs to be adjusted. did it just start this all of a sudden or has it been like it since new??

there isnt to much an owner can do with these systems, if they start giving hassles get the tec's out. it is just about impossible for an operator to make them malfunction. im confident its nothing you have done. you paid for the warranty so i think you will have to use it.

happen to mine too. It is just an adjustment that the dealer will perform under warranty

Todd,

No help here but I do have a question. I see you identifying the transmission as a hydrostatic. I was unaware that the M's had that option (I have a 5030 and would have gone larger if HST was available).

Are the M's now coming with HST?

Todd, if it is an adjustment that can be made in the field, I'd ask the dealer to come to you.

I don't think he truly meant hydrostatic transmission. I believe he was referring to the hydraulic shuttle transmission. That'd be my guess. Unless there's something different going on out there the M-series comes only with a standard synchronized shift transmission. But what I didn't know was that the M7040s came as a HDC variant. I thought that was the heavy duty hydraulics with the 12F/12R transmission. I could be wrong though.

sorry guys we where talking about the hydro shuttle. the 5030 is the biggest that you can get with a hydrostat, how about a 95x with the 2x8 speed power shift and auto. might be a bit big though :D :D :D
without a doubt this is the best gearbox i have had the pleasure to use (except mines the big sucker m125x). sorry just thought id brag :D

I say take it back and get a bigger tractor.:D

Sorry, jealousy coming out as unsolicited humor.

3 year or 3000 hour power train warranty would cover the repair, but not the transportation. Dealer may cover that though if you ask nicely:D !
