Richard you should have seen what I was going over/through bush hogging Sunday.:confused2:

I know you didn't take my comment wrongly Eric. I run over stuff I shouldn't too. :)

Actually I think the worse thing I can do is drive into standing brush and then back up while it's under me. Every time I've gotten something wedged under me or did damage that's the mistake I made.

Like the time I sheared all of the blades off the engine fan...... Right after that I built my grill guard with protection under and around the front to minimize that chance again.....

No I understand Richard and have seen your farmland property. Im on all timberlands keeping logging roads open and not a single "field" on all of my acreage. Then where I'm trying to beat back some invasive stuff there's the rocks that were left by the glaciers. Some as big as a school bus.
This pic is from 2016, I built the skid pan in 2013 and sticks don't leave a mark like these.

I’d love to see what all those bolts are connected to under that skid plate.

He posted pics of his really subframe for skid plate.

Seems to me that running through corn stalks could damage the underside.

Really should offer an option, even if third party

That's where all the work is, the plate is the easy part. There's not a lot to fasten to on the bottom of a tractor.

These are the 3 "sub frame" parts that run from the trans to the rear.

This is all the back half parts arranged as it will go on the tractor.

The fuel tank sides are vulnerable and the factory step is minimal. This view is from the left and shows the new step and one of my favorite materials (yes that's an old plastic pu truck bedliner)
The far side is a tool box and saw holder with a side panel that closes up that side along with the skid pan at the transmission filter area.
For some reason I quit taking a lot of pictures for the supports for the motor pan, but by the time I finished the back part the front was very simple.

Here's the front pan support, I used a lot of 2x3/8 bar stood vertical to carry the weight between my new sub frame parts. Got "tabs" everywhere for them and the actual skid pan.

That angle piece on the far side protects the loader hydraulic QA fittings and hoses and you see the back side of the toolbox.

Only thing that does is shine the paint on the underside and eventually burnish it of... Now, corn stubble, if run over just right will puncture a tire. The undersides of both my M's are quite shiny after all the years. A testament to how durable Kubota ROPS grey paint is. I don't want skid plates under there anyway. Hard enough to get drain plugs out as it is.

Come to think about that, I've never had a farm tractor with any belly protection on it.

my ford 3000 didn't need a belly pan, but it didn't have plastic fuel tank on the bottom or a collection hyd valves, and oil filters. The sell these tractors world wide, I wonder what there solution is

My first experience with rice padding farming was all by hand. Including carrying the cow dung to the field on their back every morning for fertilizer. To flood the paddies they set up a pole tripod with a "bucket" swinging on a rope. For hours and hours, swinging the bucket from the canal to the paddy.

Ten years later they were using two wheel tractors with steel wheels, quite an upgrade. :)
