The regular UDT is $3.51 a quart by the five gallon and the Super UDT is $6.31 a quart by the five gallon. Unless you are in single digit tempertures you almost cut your cost in half by using regular UDT. SUDT is not required on any unit, just recommended for colder climates.

Ever watch the coyote and roadrunner show? Well, every time the coyote ends up out over the canyon doing his usual freefall to oblivion, the thought "Here we go again..." must run through his little brain.

I feel like that now, I can feel us sliding down the slippery slope into the SUDT-UDT-PUDT debate vortex..

Just what is it about oil that makes grown men twitchy ??

I AM kidding, of course.

All my dealer told me was that he'd prefer if I used the Premium UDT that Kubota sells, since neither UDT nor SUDT is available in Canada. My other local alternatives were Brand X tractor trans/hydraulic fluids.

He did say I might have braking issues using other than PUDT, other than that it would be fine.

It turned out to be a difference of maybe a couple of bucks a gallon between Brand X and Kubota PUDT, so I went with PUDT.

Yeah, I hear ya. I tried to voice my real question, which was about capacity and not which fluid to use. Looks like it did slide to UDT vs SUDT though!

:D

Oh sorry! heh heh:D My manual was exactly correct about the capacities of my L4200 trans and engine oil. I would bet yours are also.

No no no... let's just don't and pretend we did.

I'm hitting Rewind, and putting the Coyote back up on the ledge. :D

Only thing I'd add is that I found out that our 7040 had magnets on the top of the two hydraulic filters that should be moved over to the new filters. It can be easy to miss them if you're busy dealing with all the fluid coming out of the machine.
