I have a 1981 ford 545 rubber tire backhoe. When I put the machine in forward it goes forward. When I go to reverse it goes in reverse. After about 2 or 3 times of this routine it won't switch into forward or reverse. If I kill the motor for 1 minute and restart it, it works fine again until I switch it 2 or 3 times from forward to reverse. What could be the problem?
I changed the transmission filter figuring it was clogged and no luck. Its almost like when I shut the machine off some type of pressure releases and the machine works again only until the pressure builds up again.
The only other thing I can think of is something going bad with the forward/reverse lever. Any help would be appreciated.
