Macular Pucker

I do welding on the side but don't do it every day. I was recently diagnosed with macular pucker. This is scar tissue on the back of the eye. There is a procedure to remove this tissue. I will have to go through this twice because I have it in both eyes. I'm trying to decide what to do since the doctor lets you decide if you want to take the risk. My question is has there been anyone out there that has gone through this without affecting your welding. I am a school trained welder and I know the importants of using the proper lens when welding. I can still see pretty good but I wonder what this operation will do to what vision I now have.

Never heard of this before, but got curious - here's a first-person blog just in case you haven't already found it yet - sounds to me like (in most cases) the sharper your surgeon (no pun intended, for once) the better your chances.

Mechanic. This past year my wife had a catarrch removed and then surgeon found a macula hole and fluid on retna. Quick scheduled surgery and after 10 days on face,then another 30 days of no lifting of weight and walking with head down to keep the bubble covering the surgery area to disapate. and six months later the same for other eye. only this was a pucker type of repair. and another 6 months of no lifting and being careful so no injuries . Next month will have the catarrch on eye removed. so able to see and drive again.
Hope you have a excelant insurance and good surgeons. Try to get the best there is for this surgery. don't want a part time person the play around.
Trust all will be good ending.
