I still can't believe this is happening. What the heck are Chrysler and GM thinking. I know they think that dealers are competing against the same brand but I think this happens more in big cities that have multiple dodge dealerships for example. Houston has multiple. Austin, San Antonio, and DFW probably too.

My question is this to the idiotic executives who made this decision. I live in a small town now with NO dealerships. WHAT INCENTIVE DO I HAVE TO BUY YOUR MAKE? With no service or support for over 35 miles, I would be crazy not to buy the most dependable brand made (according to the pundits that be). BTW, chrysler is at the bottom of the list in reliability.

If that ain't bad enough, our local Sears store is closing too.

Maybe our little town will sort of become like Cuba where they are time locked into only owning old '50's cars (and really keep them up BTW) because our car exec's let us down. I still believe the gov't may have had a hand in this terrible idea too.

I suppose all the dealers will now sell Kia and Hyundai and whatever starts hitting our shores from China and other 3rd rate countries.

Now maybe that's why I'm selling and moving to a bigger city. Because it still has car dealerships and a Sears??? OK, ehough soap box ranting.

Sounds like great opportunity for an auto repair shop.

GM and Chrysler did this to them selves. I really think we should have let them go bankrupt. Somebody would have bought the brand. Maybe not someone in the US, but the brand would still be there, Besides people who think these cars are made in the US needs to take a look at the parts suppliers. Sure they come off an assembly line in the US, but so does Toyota and Honda.

If UPS can delivery to may place they can pretty much deliever anywhere.

And as long as people are bying the cars they will thrive. I believe that's call capitalism.

Sorry couldn't resist.:D:D

FORD had a better idea.

Stand on their own two feet.

And I agree, the govt. should not have bailed the others out.

I live in a town of 400k plus and we have lost more Dealers than I can remember... All the Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Cadillac, Lincoln etc. are gone.. and they used to build Chevrolet here till they tore the plant down to build a mall...

I previously had 5 Ford/Lincoln Dealerships to order parts and 3 Chevrolet Dealers... Now all the buildings are vacant with weeds coming up through the asphalt except for one Chevrolet hanging on...

They built a Brand New Toyota Scion with Freeway Frontage and multistory showroom that was only open 30 days... after taking most of a year to construct.

Not a single Dodge/Chrysler Dealer in a community of over 1 million plus...

Being a car collector... it reminds me of reading about the 1930's and all the Marks that disappeared forever.

It ain't just GM and Chysler. Here the imports are getting hit hard also.

The Mazda, Suzuki, and Mitsubishi dealers have closed up. Some of the others are still open only because they are owned by the Ford and Gm dealers and use the same lots.
