Made 2nd class!

Yeah!

My boy just finished all requirements for his Boy Scout "2nd Class Scout" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We had a Tenderfoot campout last night, and were working on stuff with all the boys. First, my son earns 2nd class(he does still have board of review), and then in the Patrol I supervise(ASM), three of my new Scouts(just bridged last month), are 95% done with Tenderfoot requirements.

My son is already part way through 1st class requiements; hopefully that will be done here in the next few months /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Congratulation to all. Scouting is one of those things that every boy should get into. They will learn lessons that will stick with them the rest of their life.

Congrats to your son and you for being a leader. Some of the best memories I have from my childhood and teen years, are from Boy Scouts. Now that he has made 2nd Class. Tell him to work hard and make First Class. (he don't want to have a 2nd class mom!) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulation to your son!!

I'm an Eagle Scout myself.

I was just about there when I started high school and wanted to quit to play sports and chase girls. My parents wouldn't let me quit and pretty much forced me to finish up what I needed to become an Eagle Scout.

That was my first real accomplishment and lesson in life to follow through with what I start. I look back at everyone I knew who learned to quit what they were doing and how it started a patern in their lives.

Not to mention how benificial it was learning about the outdoors, backpacking and leadership. I still go back to what I learned from scouting, and sometimes think it's proven more usefull than most of what I learned in high school.

Hi Robert,
Congrats to your son, scouting was great for me, unfortunately I only made it to Life scout. But I have many great memories from scouting, and really learned a whole bunch along the way! Keep him pointed that way!

Another Eagle Scout here - great memories.

One of the best things scouting does is getting kids used to talking to adults. The merit badges required you to master some aspect of life/outdoors/skills, and then you had to present your information to an adult, often a total stranger. Very challenging and stimulating - I only wish I could have gotten my kids interested in Scouting, but no luck here.

I wish him good luck and tell him to keep up the good work
My son is in the army now and when he wrote from basic training he said I could kick him in the but when I saw him next for not finishing his eagle. I waited till he was out of his class A's and complied with his wishes. He only had his project to do and we couldent get thim off his but. He also said our training for philmont (a year earlier) made basic easier the 65 miles out there were harder than the hikes in basic.

Hey that's great Robert! Give him my Eagle Scout congratulations and do your best to keep him at it, it really is worthwhile.

My son is a second year Webelo. Last night they had their ScoutMaster talk for the Arrow of Light. Unfortunately, I'm out of town so I missed it though we've interacted with the Scout troop quite a bit already.
