Mahindra \"00\" Series

I had a opportunity to talk to my Mahindra dealer I purchased a new 4500 from 1 1/2 years ago. He mentioned that he and his mechanics had attended a Madindra seminar in Atlanta a month ago. According to him - it was a worthwhile trip and everyone learned a lot about the Mahindra line.

The one interesting point that he brought up that pertains to most owners of the "00" series tractor, is that if the tractor is working in a stationery spot such as running a chipper, running a grain auger, log splitting.....always place the transmission in neutral but the shuttle lever in forward or reverse. From what I understand, a shaft within a shaft in the transmission has no lubrication without the shuttle in a forward/reverse position. It leads to early failure of the gear sychronizers and a very costly repair. This shuttle lever position runs againt my thought of safe operation.

I'm not a mechanic nor can I provide more details. My best advice is to tell you to talk to your own dealer and start asking him questions. It would be interesting to hear from some of the dealers on this forum if there is a TSB out on this from Mahindra.
