I have a Mahindra 4500, 2-wheel drive. I need someone to tell me what are the handle knob on:mad:the right side of the sit are and what each one do. OK first I believe the long bar handle with the cap on the end that push in is the breaks. This handle I believe needs to be down when operating the tractor. Next to that is two handles, the one close to the sit is the handle that lift up the bush hog. I have used it for several years lift up the bush hog for high cutting. While now it takes all my strength to lift up this handle, and the bush hog is not lifting up. Is something short on fluid, or where do I look to see what is causing this? Next to that handle, (between the bush hog lift handle and the break handle) is a handle that appear to be a gage or tighten handle. Can someone tell be what is this handle and what is it designed to do on the tractor? What is causing my tractor to not lift up the bush hog? If it is H-fluid, low or missing, where on the tractor do I add more.

Ok, first, which model do you have (ie. 4540, 4550, 4565 ....)? The 4500 series are similar to my 4025 so I may be able to help.

Can you take a picture of the "cockpit" and post it.

The long bar with the cap is your parking brake handle. The 2 controls on the right side of the seat are your 3 point positioning and your "draft" control.

At the very bottom of the seat, front center is a turn knob that locks the 3 point in place for transport.

Send pictures and the model number and we'll try to help.

Thanks for the quick reply>>Navvet: OK You stated 3 Point positioning, I do not believe I have a 3 Point hitch, but the knob closes to the seat in the past would lift up the bush hog cutter. But now it is extra hard to pull up this knob. Also beside that knob is another knob with a turn knob on the handle, that you maybe can tighten for what reason. What is a draft control, and what do it do?

You might want to spend a little time with your owners manual to help you identify your controls.

This.... every tractor has a 3point hitch that is the lever you are pulling on to let the mower up and down.... also the other is called a Draft... its regulates the amount of load or draft a piece of equipment puts on a tractor..

The fluid is a hydraulic fluid located under the seat in the lift housing... unless its a 4wd... the 2wd had about 3.5gallons that you could check by pulling a dipstick out that is on top of the housing behind the seat... its just a big square headed plug... you also have a hydraulic filter on the right side of the tractor not far from the clutch pedal then a metal strainer that goes into the lift housing... pipe is easy to locate on the floor board... also you have a rate of flow regulator below your seat that will control the speed of the 3point... knob looks similar to a water faucet... if its turned all the way off it will shut the whole 3point down... this happens often when people mistake it for a way to tighten pressure on the seat... to me it sounds like you tractor prolly sits outside in the weather and your lever pivot or lift arms or both are starting to freeze up from constant moisture rust build up

Thanks Navasot: for the reply. My tractor do sit out in the rain, and maybe the lift arms are freeze up, I used a penertrating oil on the lift arms, preyed over and over and nothing has changed, unless I used the wrong prey oil. My tractor look like you stated. where is the lever pivot?? What good prey to use on the lift arms, and how many times should I prey it???
