I had a similar problem with my 2555. While running it was only getting 12V at the battery. It ended up being some paint overspray on the nut holding the wire on the alternator. I removed the nut, scrapped the paint off, reattached and its been working great ever since.
Did I miss something? Isn't this tractor under warranty? I read the thread twice but my eyes and brain don't work as well as they used to!

It is, but the dealer is 75 miles away. They told me the labor and parts are covered under the warranty, but the pickup and delivery are not. They charge $2.50 a loaded mile. That would be a $375 bill.
Ah, OK. Thanks for the clarification. I hate trying to run down electrical issues!
