I have 2014 Mahindra 5010 HST Cab and want to get a 3 PT Log Splitter from TSC (Speeco/County Line). The manual I found online says to tie the remote lever in the IN position to use the log splitter, that sounds like really bad advice. It also states there is a closed spool kit included to convert open center valves to closed center. What does this mean and do I have to do it?

This is way over my head. What type of rear remote comes on the 5010, open or closed?

Assuming I should absolutely not lock the lever in the IN position?

I assumed the valve on the splitter would control it. Has anyone used a splitter on their tractor rear remotes and if so, what do I have to do so I do not have to tie a lever in any position on the tractor. I am not wanting to have to do a bunch of work to get the splitter to work, thought it would be easy, hook up and go, maybe not.

Your tractor is an open center hyd system, so you would use the open center valve.

All of your valves are open center valves.

Look on your remote valve and tell me if you see a port labeled PB, PBY, or BYD.

I am betting you do, as that port should feed the 3pt.

If so, you have an easy fix.

Other than being sort of :mickeymouse: nothing wrong with tying your remote valve open to feed the log splitter. Lots of people do just that.
This way you can use what you have and spend zero money. You should be good to go as is. If you simply do not want to tie the lever in the open position, then follow JJ's instructions and he can-will help you with what you will need to do.

Could not find any letters on the valves. I took pics maybe that will help to know what I have. I am a visual learner. If you can guide me it would be appreciated. The solution I assume will still allow the rear remote to work normally when splitter is not connected.

Thanks
Bob
