It is time to replace my battery. It has an Exide 31 in it, but have not been able to find that battery around here. Have found Exide dealers but they don't have that battery. Always thought Interstate batteries were good. The top of the batter is some what worn off, but seems to be either a hp-31D or hp-31E, 925 CCA. TSC is one of the places I called and they carry Exide, but not that battery.
Anyone replaced theirs or have suggestions?

Got one at Napa for my 6000 this week for $74.95. It seems to be exactly the same as the old one. I've got to kick that habit of leaving the key on.

Found this post from Farmwithjunk. I would take my battery to Napa and see if they have a match.

Napa for me too. Good luck remembering to turn the key off! 5 years and I still leave it on.

When I replaced the battery in my 4110 I used the Interstate 31-PHD, this sounds like it would be the equivilent to your Exide model 31. The Interstate is rated at 1050 CCA. I have had excellent service from it in my tractor for 3 years now, and have used Interstate automotive batteries almost exclusively for about 30 years with great service.

Well, I checked out NAPA and they wanted $118 for a similar battery, off brand I never heard of, 18 month warranty. The battery did not have a handle like the Exide.

I decided to go to the Interstate store. They had two batteries, one with the Interstate name on it, and another called PowerBuilt. Same warranty, 36 month free replacement. 1010 CCA. The big difference between the two is the Interstate did not have a handle and the PowerBuilt did. The battery is pretty heavy and getting it in and out is a lot easier with handles. So, I went with the PowerBuilt, $92, 36 month warranty, and got the handles. Salesman said they get about 15 complaints a week about their larger batteries not having handles. I replaced both my batteries in my International earlier this summer, both Interstate, and they both had handles. They tested them both and said they were both good. Told them tractor won't start and not sure which one it is, have charged them, no luck...they replaced both batteries with new ones...hence the reason I went to Interstate.

At any rate, cleaned out radiator, etc, got the new battery in, and doing just fine. I had to take the bottom shroud off to get the battery in and out. Five bolts, not a big deal, but it is not real easy to get to.

Thanks for all your help.
