Hello - just wanted to verify with other Mahindra owners that the SAE75W or 80W UTTO is the correct fluid for hydraulics and transmission on Mahindra tractors? That's what my manual says and that seems pretty heavy, or is that typical for most tractor brands? The fluid easily obtainable in my area is generally thinner, but this may explain why my fluid foams up so much as I'm sure the stuff I've been adding is much lighter, unfortunately. My hydraulic (FEL and 3 point) performance has been poor for some time and I'm concerned about what damage I've done if the hydraulic fluid has been too thin for too long, but going forward, I just want to verify the manual is right before replacing the fluid. Thank you!

On your 7520, you will want to use hy-trans. If with the correct fluid and a proper new filter you still get aeration, check the short rubber hose that connects the return (suction) pipes together. It is the big pipe from the pump. They will suck air before they leak fluid. If the hose is good, clean the surfaces well and double clamp. The 17 gpm pump sucks on that size line pretty hard and will pull in air anywhere it can. That air then expands in the pump and you get poor performance and short pump life.

BTW, the 7520 is an awesome machine. Regardless of the rated HP, they will keep up fine with the new Tier IV 85 HP models in my opinion. Essentially, they were under-rated is my observation.

Thanks, Dave. I do love this tractor, have had it since new and really have worked it hard skidding out timber, baling lots of hay and even plenty of dirtwork hauling gravel and making driveways.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, however, I'm not sure what double clamping means. Does that mean replacing the current hose we're discussing with a new one that has twice the clamping?

Sorry, I'm great with a tractor until it has mechanical problems . Need to win the Powerball so I can play on my tractor all day and have a pro work on it when things aren't working perfectly.

Brian,

That short hose will have one hose clamp on each side, just like a radiator hose clamp. If the hose is good, sometimes putting two clamps on each side (4 total) will solve the air entrainment issue.

The 7520 is a keeper, a mean machine for sure.
