Mahindra? Which series are Mahindra VS TYM?

My neighbor has a 2 year old 6110, by TYM. It's at the dealership again for what will probably be it's second engine with only 145 hours on the tractor. Seems like each time it took forever to get warranty approval. Is this because Mahindra is having to work through TYM? Looking for a new tractor in the next year and like the "Real" Mahindras very much. (would love a 5530 or 6530) What series are built by Mahindra and which ones are TYM?

TYM made the old 10 series for Mahindra. According to Tractor data. The 6110 uses a Mahindra 2.4L Diesel engine. Don't see why they would have to work through TYM. It is their own engine that they produce. Not sure what is going on to create these problems, but they are not common to either the TYM or Mahindra tractors built by TYM.

I thought my 4510 had a TYM engine.

Should be a Daedong aka Kioti engine. I don't think TYM is in the engine business. For their own machines they have used in the past. John Deere, Kubota, Perkins, Mitsubishi engines. New machines are using Yanmar, Duetz and Doosan engines.

As a point of information, the eMax 22 and 25 are TYM built with a Daedong engine. Weren't the earlier Max series engines built by Mitsubishi?

On the heat issue I've found the radiator screen about half or more obstructed after mowing pastures that got weedy, never an over heat situation but I need to clean it regularly and blow or wash out the radiator. My old Ford Ns on the other hand pretty much never clog much at all, about once a year I'd wash them out and was good to go again.

Max engines are still Mitsubishi, in fact the entire Max is made by Mitsubishi. I don't think you can buy a better small tractor.

You can't tell people often enough about cleaning the radiator. The typical overheating call is a clogged radiator, and people never believe us. "Is the radiator clean, can you see light through it 100%", to which the customer responds "yeah, radiator is clean, I cleaned it. I think I need a thermostat, etc". We then go pick up the tractor, and it will always have a 50% or more clogged radiator on the air side (outside). People brush off the debris that is hanging on the screen and the outside of the core, but never really get down to see if they can see light through it. I think our TBN folks are better, but just today we did another one of these. And unfortunately, sometimes people will run them hot enough and long enough to crack a head or blow a head gasket, and that is never covered under warranty.

The manure pile will clog the my Maxes radiator fast, even with an extra grate on the grill guard installed.

A quick update on my buddies engine. They have determined that the cylinder head is cracked and will be replacing this week. Supposed to be ready Friday. As soon as it's picked up he hopes to promptly trade it on a Kubota. 2 years of ownership and it's been down 7 months out of 24 months. Can't blame him. Someone will be getting a super clean 6110.

Sold a lot of 6110's and zero engine problems. Sorry for your friends issues. BTW the daedong engines are pretty much a Kubota clone.

Good information to know about the daedong engines.

I'm new and reading for catch-up. In general you can't get most of this new stuff hot and you need to be more careful than with the old iron stuff. We bought a huge Kubota zero-turn at work, and it burned up two engines. There is a very effective chaff screen protecting the radiator, but it is so fine it seems to block too much air, and get a little chaff on it and it overheats. The kids we had running it just ran it to destruction.
I say it's poor design if a machine won't operate in 100 F weather loaded without overheating if it is in good condition. It needs considerable extra cooling capacity to make up for: partial blocking of the radiator external and internal; general aging issues, etc. If it is running at the edge when new and perfect, it won't be long before you have trouble. I agree with Dave: the old Deere tractors we run at home seem to be unstoppable and I don't recall one ever overheating.

My 4110, built by TYM, has a Daedong engine (maker of Kioti). The TYM version is powered by a Kubota engine.
