I had similar issues that a lot of you guys have had. My solution wasn't original to me, but it's the only one I've seen in the U.S. It's my 'junkyard replica' of a British pillar post. The Royal Mail sent me schematics & away I went.

Checked with the USPS, & they approved - sent out a local official to check it out. This is just finishing it up. It's now bolted in a ton of concrete. It locks up & you can get mail for ages while on vacation etc...

A friend sent it in to Farm Show and they put it in their magazine end of last year. Who knew mailboxes could be fun!

Be happy to build one for you. But they weight around 40#, so shipping might be costly.

On one of the how they make things shows, they had a segment on how those Royal Post Office boxes are made. They are definitely made to take a beating.

I like how yours turned out.

Thanks very much! I like to tinker, but since I just got a tractor recently, my projects are non-tractor related. (hopefully, soon to change - I have ideas...)!

Thanks very much! People have stopped & told me about the show, but I've never seen it. I think they cast the real ones from iron? My mother is from Scotland & I got a little piggy-bank pillar post - that's what gave me the idea. I've had it up for a year and half & so far - no problem. It looks nicer now that it's in place with stone around it.
