Don't forget to keep the owner's manual out and handy. It still makes good reference material even after you have read it.

You might even want to invest in a maintenance/parts book.

Not being the neatest mechanic around, I photocopied the pertinent pages of the manual and use them instead, in sheet protectors.

The rule of "Common Sense". Think 4 times before you do something operating your tractor, and then you do it once the right way. Then make sure that you have insurance, just in case that you hurt yourself, others or damage ?><@#$%!%^& that some attorney fresh out of Law School will make his reputation on you for the insurance company of the ??? injured/damaged.

Also have coverage for theft/vandalism and floods, fire, tornadoes, RPG's, errant Scuds etc. ------ Litigious Society!!!

I purchased my tractor via financing, agreement stated that I WILL have insurance making the finance Co. (Kubota) benificiery!! No problem for that, next coverage is for attachments and in case you do something "Dumb S---T" with your attachments. ------ and it goes on!!!!!

Anyhow, I await my arrest from the soil, stump/brush police !!

Hi snal,

For perishables add:
WD-40
rags*
drop cloths
wax & wash products
touch-up paint
thread lock
duct tape
electrical tape
diesel fuel container(s)

General tools: (Don't know what you have for tools, or tractor attachments):
-Adjustable wrench*
-1# hammer*
-channel locks*
-1/2 drive ratchet set (better yet 1/4-->3/4, but.....$$$) (with your wheel bolt & attachment size(s)* right on tractor)
-torque wrench
-breaker bar
-3 ft steel pipe
-oil pan/container for fluid catching during changes
-wire brushes
-funnels
-filter wrench
-screwdriver set
-5 gal buckets
-wood blocking
-bungee cord*

*keep right on my tractor (thanks for the compartment Deere!)

snal, this may be mostly stuff you have around, but occasionally people who've never turned a wrench, much less used one, buy a tractor to work on their property... That being said, if you plan on doing more extensive work than regular maintenance, you'll need specialized tools for that...

Oh BTW congratulations on your new machine--you are going to have a ball--I mean get a lot accomplished!
