Farm Pro 2420
Hi all I recently bought my first tractor a 2420 2wd farmpro. I have had a few minor issues with it but the dealer has done a great job getting the repairs done quick and getting me back on the road. I am wanting to know what kind of fluid I need to use and how much to change my hydrolic and tranny I have asked the dealer a couple of times while getting repairs but never wrote it down I am going to write it down in my manual in ENGLISH this time. I dont want to be a pest and keep calling the dealer thanks for all the help.

I have a 35hp Jinma with around 400 hours. I use 15-40 Diesel oil in the engine, 80-90 GL-5 gear lube in the transmision and AW32 hydro fluid in the hydraulics. I use 15-40 in the injection pump. I'm in WV where it gets pretty cold in the winter. If I lived in a warmer area I may use the heavier AW68 hydro fluid.

Don't let that bother you one bit. I'm sure he was paid well for selling you that machine. What he doesn't know - he should find out. Makes for a better dealer in the long run

I use 15W40 in the engine
ISO100 compressor oil in the injection pump
80W90 in the front diff/shuttle/tranny/rear diff
AW32 in the TPH hydraulics
50W in the power steering

But I think your steering and TPH share a common pump and sump. So - assuming you live in a moderate to cool climate - you're best off with AW32 all the way.

80 W 90 GL5 in gear boxes

All of the above is good. Some are reporting better results with straight weight oils, as the chinese recommended, but in the cold Arkansas winter, 15w40 is the best bet. these websites are not the best place to recommend brands of oil as it is a highly personal decision. Be sure it is a diesel rated oil.
Hope that new battery keeps you cranking for years to come, and thanks again for your business!

Use the same as Greg_g, except I use the AW32 in the power steering and hydraulics. Doesn't get that cold here - central NC.

As far as capacities, I have a 454LE, so it may be a little higher, but, the engine takes about 4.5 galllons, about 1.5 galllons in the front axle and 11 gallons in the tranny and rear axle. When I flushed the hydraulics (Koyker 195 FEL) took almost 5 gallons.

Thanks for all the info. I will get all the fluids changed before winter arrives.

Two very important qualifiers I should have attached to my post above. Hope I catch you before you go out and make your purchases.

Because the systems are vented, both the gear oil and the hydraulic fluid you select should clearly state non-foaming or anti-foaming or low-foam somewhere on the label. This second one is harder to pin down, but it's a real plus if you can find gear oil that is also rated by the manufacturer as "safe for yellow metals".

I have bought 5 gallons on 80w90 gl5 gear oil. I will have to check and make sure it states non-foaming. Thanks for the advice.

Also one more quick question I know I am going to sound like an idiot but what is the injection pump you are talking about thanks again.
