More likely they're in the filters. Either that, or they're still in the engine... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Mark,
The filters for sure! I mean, we're talking about a New Holland here, you know, formerly Ford with roots going back to the turn of the last century! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Technology developed through years of hard work! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif Did you put your boots on yet? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Seriously, I haven't quite had this tractor a year yet and it is unbelieveable what an 18.5 hp diesel FWD machine can do!! I might just cut open the old filters to see if anything is in there. Do Kubota's continue to leave shavings for the duration of their life or just during break-in? JimBinMI

I always have my boots on when I log onto TractorByNet. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm not sure about the shavings. My L4310HST didn't have but a few in the strainer at the 50-hour service. I think the patented Kubota Internal Metal Intensification Process that compensates automatically for wear may work overtime occasionally, and when this happens, the excess metal is sloughed away as shavings. Everything has its disadvantages. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I own a NH and 2 Kubotas, I may be called upon to act as mediator if the need arises. My NH did not have any shavings either, but I did find 36 8mm bolts and a pocketwatch. :)

Mark, now you know what a terrible mistake you made buying a 99. The 00 models reprocess the shavings and bond them to any internal gear or shaft that show any wear. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird - thanks

Jim - did you put all 50 hours on the same engine, or did you have to have it replaced a couple of times? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

According to my wife. The 50 hours were continuous. She said I have not gotten off the Tractor since it came in.

PaulB,
I did replace it once because somewhere over in Japan they accidentally put an orange engine in it! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif JimBinMI

Dern! I knew there was another reason for going ahead and upgrading my L4310HST to an L4610HST!

Ok, Ok, I give in! You dealers out there: how much extra will I have to cough up to trade to the latest and greatest L4610HST? I'll need the new loader too, but I'm keeping my 4-in-1 5' bucket or getting a bigger 6' one, depending on price. And there will be about 4 or 5 hours extra work moving special hydraulic valves, cylinders, etc involved in the project, too.

Mark
