Making a hole for snowblower chute control in my soft cab?

I bought a new Blizzard B54 3ph blower for my 1705, I have a clear Berco soft cab, the only way I can think of is with a soldering iron.. Any ideas? I like to keep things as manual as possible so I want to keep the manual chute.

If you use a carpet knife and simply make a large + cut it should not be too difficult. you will have to remove the crank before you mount the snow blower and before you remove it to avoid ripping it by accident.

Good idea, it wouldn't let much air in the cab that way.

When the shop guys were putting holes in conveyor belting, they would heat a bolt of the correct size, and melt a hole thruogh the belting. This method would probably work with the soft cab. A knife method may not cut a nice clean circle. Jon

I can be wrong on this but as I understand it, the crank will be on the inside of the cab. If so, the cab will have to have a slotted hole as the crank will move up and down with the blower. I don't have rear hydraulics on my tractor so I bolted on a 12 volt winch to turn the chute. Many videos on YouTube on how to do this. I could never go back to a crank.

I would try to use heat to melt my way through. Drilling or cutting may leave a jagged edge which will lead to a stress crack.

AH so they were big fans of Flexco fasteners for conveyor belts eh? I much preferred vulcanized splicing as there were no dust leaks from the splices.

Well I guess I can mount a small worm gear motor for not much money, even a window motor would work, I'll post pictures when I get it done. I'm probably going to mount a 6 inch linear actuator as well, two dpdt switches and I'll be done I guess..
