Making a SSQA Mounting Plate

---------------- I'll be using it on my 742B Bobcat to move half ton pallets of pellets, so there won't be much stress on it.
Keep an eye on the top of the attachment plate. This is what happened to my 1/4 inch light weight fork frame when overloaded.

You may want to add some gussets to strengthen it.

Here are some gussets on my stump bucket, for example.

I put two gussets about a foot apart under the top bar for just this reason

In the diagram it shows 44 inches across. You will need to make your gap 44-1/2" across. From the top inside the upper angle to the top of the lower angle is 15-3/4". For the bottom slots, 3-1/2 to 9" across from both sides, 1-1/2" deep will work for most of the relatively newer machines. A piece of 1-1/2" flat is standard for the upper lip.

I checked several different brands for the angles of the top & bottom. For the top I found both 40 & 45°. On the bottom 45 - 50°. So for the ones I make I use 40° on the top & 50° on the bottom. Works well with Caterpillar & John Deere equipment.

Xfaxman,

What machine was that plate on when it happened ?

Reason I ask is I'm currently building a shrub bucket (like your stump bucket) on a solid 1/4" Titan plate which has a 3/8" top rail. Main use will be transplanting shrubs, rather than trying to tear out large stumps.

I had loaded some 32', 2 3/8" Drill Stem on a friend's trailer, went to his place to unload it and had too many on the forks.

I would say that a V417 with 4400 lbs of lift is a bit much for 1/4".

V417 VersaHandler Telescopic Tool Carrier - Bobcat Company

These guys have plates up to 1/2"

Mount Plates - Tractor Attachments

Yep, too much strong! :D

That 1/2" version only has a 3/8" top strip.

I don't think the V417 will bend it.

That V417 sure would be nice stacking round bales in the barn. I might even be able to get 4 high.
