Making friends?

Local rancher is having lots of issues with anti cow people cutting fences.

Doesn’t help that a small community of multi million dollar homes built adjoins ranch land.

One morning my brother looks out and sees cattle on his back 40… it really is brother’s back 40 acres.

He called the rancher who was most apologetic and my brother said no problem just wanted you to know.

Rancher said ever since the new homes went up nothing but problems… calls to animal control saying too hot for the cows to be out to weekly fence cuts.

Neighbors sure can transform paradise to hell.

I’ve only had one problem and that is when a couple from San Francisco bought a home on Moms street… the ladies called adult protective services because they were worried about moms safety on her daily walks.

Mom still ran marathons at 75 and still walking several miles each day at 88.

The ladies thought quite irresponsible for an old woman to be out by herself.

Several random visits and the agencies said there is nothing to this but said once a call is made they open a case file…

I have some local enviro freaks spray paint my tractors, stomp on the hoods and cut bale strings. Happening to other farmers, too.
Funny thing is I am an organic operation for the most part. We haven’t sprayed for weeds in over 6 years. Only fertilizer we use is spent mushroom compost, and that’s only every 3-4 years.

I guess it’s the diesel engine exhaust they resent and that we supply hay for cows & beef cattle.

I ever catch one of those punks I’ll rip the ears off of their heads.

That's too good for 'em.

OP, I would make a few attempts to be neighborly despite the bad manners. They just don't know what they don't know. Bless their hearts. Responding to their rudeness with more rudeness will cement the issue into perpetual stress.
I don’t reward bad behavior.

Isn’t nice how others think they have a right to destroy your stuff?

Neighbor who has the cattle across the street has started leaving his most ornery and temperamental bull out there.

Especially when he has to leave equipment or one of his trailers there.

A-holes will come by in the middle of the night and steel anything not welded on.

I heard a commotion in the middle of the night and realized someone FAFO

He found his chains and binders left about half way from his trailer too the gate

T-bone (not sure of his name, that's what I started calling him) didn't like someone coming into his yard and disturbing his girls

Hay Dude - if you ever catch those punks - send me an email. I want to help you with their education.
I’ll pay your plane ticket.

All of us out here own 5-20 acres. There is ONE neighbor who has decided to wall in with a solid 8' fence, their entire property.

When they finally sell, the first thing the new owners will do, is rip that thing down. It looks ridiculous. Apparently they don't like seeing horses on pasture, my apiary, my buckwheat and clover fields...

Move to the country, then wall yourself in so that all you can see is a solid wooden wall 🤣

They are nasty people, and get along with no one. The rest of us are very good friends.

We have urban jerks move here and the first thing they do is run for local political office and mess with zoning codes, rails to trails BS, change our schools, anything they can to destroy our rural tradition and privacy.

Our local school had a native American nickname. Gone.

I’m so sick of this crap. It’s got to end.

Well you still might have to reply with:
Please keep your dogs within your property. They are scaring my cattle.
Also, please tell your children and their friends that my fenced property is not THEIR new playground, so do not climb over the wire or cut it to get their new motocross bikes through here.
I know that city people enjoy their fireworks on holidays, but I recommend that if you have friends over and they bring fireworks, skyrockets could set my fields on fire and stampede my herd (current market worth $2.86M).
BTW: I shoot occasionally to sharpen my skills and my freezer. Come on over and I'll show you what you needed to have in order to avoid the trouble you mighta had in your city. I don't blame you for leaving, but around here it's always been F.A.F.O.

Thanks for asking !

BTW Your wife sure looks incredible with that new string ******, especially at 45 ! Red is a good color for her. Wondering if you noticed that I shaved her back ?

Love,
Willy.

My neighbors horses used to wander into my front yard once or twice a year. I wasn't happy about it because when it was wet they would mash the ground down and leave tracks.
I would call the neighbor and in just a little while he would show up with his red bucket and the horses would follow him back home.
I never complained since he always fixed his fence and I figured his horses didn't know they were trespassing.
The fence was a single strand barbwire eventually he sold off his horses, problem solved.

Well this suc#@ ...I don't get it ether... I guess I am more lucky then you guys, I will share some positivity in this depressing thread.... Have a some city folk who moved in close by as a ''neighbor'', they are half a mile away, great people they came in with the mentality of living the country life, they got chickens, made a garden and a green house, they play loud music and doesn't complain when we shoot guns... I went to see him one day to complained to him because he kept changing the songs, I told him ''ffs are you going to play a whole song for once'' with a smirk on my face that I couldn't hold back, that was the ice breaker BTW never saw him before that day... we ended up drunk, we had a great night. I rode my horse there a few days after, that made their day.

We're blessed. Been here 20 years and we were worried because we're the only yankees on our road LOL. Text from my neighbor (her husband passed away last year, a great guy).

I don't think respect for others comes from where you came from, but how you were raised.

I was opening our bedroom window last night around 11:00pm to get some natural air conditioning and I saw a flashlight moving around in our side yard. I asked who was out there? A guy said he had just moved in a block down and his mom's dog had just run out the back door. I asked if he looked in the woods behind the house and he said he tried but can't make it through there. It's brutal. I agreed. I went outside and looked around the yard while he continued out to the street calling for the dog. I heard him on the cell phone talking to someone about it. He then stopped at the catty corner neighbor's house and talked to them since their dog was barking.

With a super bright flashlight, and no attempt to conceal himself, and staying to the center of the yard, I had few concerns he was up to something. Got his address in case I find the dog and wished him luck.

I feel similarly when someone is out looking for their pet.

I had a lady last week pull up at 5am while I was out walking the pooch.

Couldn't miss me since I use a super bright flashlight

They asked if I had seen their pooch, and told me what breed it was and where they lived.

Then proceeded to drive up and down the roads calling it.
