Rob,
Those look good. I know you will really like them.

Finely got around to installing the ends on my sway links. Here are some pictures. The small lynch pins will be replaced with roll pins when I get some the right size. That way the pins won't get lost.

Rob (3RRL),
Some how I missed the pictures of Mrs. Robs sway links. I like the idea of a swivel ball being on both ends.

Nice looking. I will get up to the weekend place this weekend. I welded one of the ends on mine. Gonna see how it works and fits first. I didn't have the room to screw on the pin like you did, I remade the bottom Rops support. If all goes well I have a welder up there and will attach the other side.

Thanks for the followup.

One comment on the U-joints that attach to the tractor. I was (ahem) hooking up implements wrong and cracked the welds on both sides. I set it up so that the sway was stopped by compressive forces. (if it swayed to the left, the left side would stop it from moving while the right side still had play).

The right way is to set it up so the sway is stopped by reaching the limits of expansion. So, if it sways to the left, the RIGHT side extends to it's limit and stops sway to the left. The left side still has play in it at this point. Ditto for going the other way. The welds have been much happier that way. Live and learn, die and forget it all.

On the slots, I would think that duplicating the factory set up is good.

You want the links to limit in tension, not in compression or they'll bend. But if that's all you need, why not just use chains instead of some multi piece fabricated assembly?

Chains with fabricated end connections seem a lot simpler to build...

Hi Jerry,

I like them too. I thought that is a clever set up.
They came stock from the factory that way on her little 284 Jinma.

I kept forgetting to take the last shot. So here it is. The ball link works fine to. I guess it needs a little breaking in, they were a little stiff from TSC. The U-joints I made were easier to move around.

In the pics you can see the new ROPS plate and the ball joints.

IT's over and so far so good!!

Rob,
Some of those ball joints feel stiff, but under load they swivel just fine.
Where you have them connected to the drag link you'll never get another kink in there.:)
You did a really good job on this project. It turned out great!
Thanks for sharing it.
