- 3550 Fard Backhoe and a 1948 Farmall Cub,
I ave a friend that has a tree business and he had a one of the old CHuck and Duck ris as he calls it. He still uses it on jobs he works on alone. Its fed with a skid steer.
He als has a large tandem axle Bandit rig. It has the feed roll and cut off but an incident that happened one weekend really got to him. He had a crew going and it had some large branches to be ground. His unit uses a hydraulic winch on top of the chute to pull the branches up to the machine. He had a laborer that had other things on his mind let the nylon winch rope get wrapped around the outside of the drum and pinch. He walked the 50 feet to the branch and hand drug it back to the the machine. As he was throwing it i n the ffed roll he forgot to take off the winch rope. THe rolls pulled in the tree top and rope and the flywheel caught the rope and yanked it in supper fast. before he could do anything the rope that was slack got around the mans leg. It yanked him up into the machine and hit the cutoff bar. It stopped the feeder but the flywheel wound down and still almost got his foot past the feed rolls. The rope finally broke and left him with a broken foot and stained underwear.
