That or sightseeing. Or, considering that the primary purpose of a combine is accomplished by driving it in a straight line, the operator relied on GPS self steering so much he never learned how to drive it manually with finesse.

Cute - but that is a pre-GPS machine. Now he is so broke he really can't pay attention - unless it was a mechanical problem.

Hopefully he isn't too badly injured - I am not envious!

GPS assisted steering can be retrofit on older equipment.

Appears to be a John Deere 4420 So figure about 30+ years old. The bridge is actually quite wide witness the crane outrigger span. Driver made it past the sign without taking the sign out. It does have some nasty scrapes on the bottom but it's also well used. The clean grain sugar trough has a hole worn through plugged with duct tape. GPS is only used in fields, not for highway use.look at the bent up tie rod. Could something happen there that caused the accident?

We had a local do that same thing with the tractor pulling a big tank Manure spreader across a small creek. He probably been a crossed it 500 times but that one day one of the wheels on the manure tank ,huge ones,dropped over the edgeand it rolled the tractor right over into the creek. He drowned before they could get them out though the fire station was only five or six blocks away at most.
