What part of SE Iowa are you from. I use to get down there some to a town called Burlington.

If you had went about another 35 miles south of Burlington you would have arrived in a small river town named <font color="blue"> Keokuk </font>. That's where I call home. The town was named after a Native American, Chief of the Sac and Fox. We are boardered on the east side by the Mississippi River and on the south by the Des Moines River. We are at Lock & Dam 19. People come here during the winter months to watch the Bald Eagles feed. You would be surprised how many of them are here during the winter. They really are a great bird of pray to watch doing their thing. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well if I ever get back down that way I will look you up. I have a cabin just north of Loc & dam #4. I actually am on Lake Pepin which the Mississippi runs through. And yes I just love being there in the winter time and watching the bald eagles. I can sit there all day and watch them birds.

At this time we are getting sleet & freezing rain. They are saying we will get 5" to 8" of snow tonight. Our Miniature Schnauzer just hates snow that is as deep as he is tall. Cold on the belly I think. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am an HVAC contractor in Minnesota. In order for me or anyone else I guess to do HVAC in the major cities of Iowa you have to have this special license. So I went there a few years back and like 97% of the people on the first time failed it. Then i went back a month later to take it again and it also helped that I took the newest code book with me and I passed it. The I went back like 6 months later to expand what i am able to do with it. Then I went back about a year later for updating. I am not sure if I ever have to go back now as I should be fully licensed.

I know what you mean. We don't baby our animals either. My dogs are outside a lot , but they do have insulated houses , with heated water supply. When it gets really cold, below ~ 5-10 deg., they spend the night in the garage.

Hang in there w/ the ACD, they're great dogs. We've got two and just love them.

Our house mut was a pound pup, who was tied to a porch when their owners moved, and left to die. They must have been wailed on by a male, 'cause it was ~6 months before she didn't pee on the floor when I got home. With much understanding, she has become the best animal we've ever owned.
