Has anyone tried to install a log splitter on a EMAX25? It has no hydraulics on the rear. Can the loader control/pump handle the job?
Best Regards

There is an optional rear remote for the emax25. I haven't priced one yet but I may as I would like to run a hydraulic top link if not a top and tilt. Any reason you don't want a stand alone splitter? I picked up a 22 ton husky from tsc and I can't say enough good things about it, also at 1k it should be significantly cheaper than a three point and any required hydraulic work.

a conventional under 20 ton log splitter uses an 11 gpm pump. Check the tractor specs and see it the tractor pump will handle it.

others who have asked about tractor mounted splitters on this forum usually are told to get stand alone unit....and I agree.

Mattt2778 has it exactly right.

I went round and round on this subject myself. Used stand alone splitters were priced too high in my opinion, and my tractor doesn't have remotes.
I also went with the TSC Husky 22T. I got it for $950 with a $50 coupon. I bought it this spring. They switched engine manufacturers (Kohler, I think) The exhaust doesn't blow in your face when in vertical mode. I have run some big stuff thru it. I'm quite happy with it. I'm gonna tow it up to my new house lot today and leave it there for awhile.

I doubt you Max25 has enough GPM for fast operation. My buddy has a Kubota L3010 and his 3pt log splitter is sloooowww. My Northern Tool slitter with a 6.5hp Honda GX160 is much faster. And with a stand alone splitter you can use the tractor to bring wood to the splitter and to working height.

I meant to say 'under 30 ton' uses an 11gpm pump.

or get a splitter that goes vertical and not have to lift the rounds. :)

As mentioned, a small tractor has quite a bit less flow than most splitters. Secondly, most splitter pumps are two-stage, allowing a high flow at low pressure until the ram hits the wood, at which time they go to high pressure and low flow. I think that is why a 6hp engine can run a splitter so well. A tractor has a straight gear pump. We sell 3-point splitters, but in many applications I think a stand alone unit is best. That also frees up the tractor to haul the wood.

figure in the cost of adding in the rear remotes to the cost of the 3pt splitter and even if the tractor will properly power the splitter, which I doubt, you'll probably be able to buy a couple stand alone splitters.

eta: also think about the cost of running a 25hp engine for hours and hours on end vs the cost of a small gasoline engine on a stand alone unit.
