The Owners manual for a Kubota RTV-x900 (diesel) says:

"The CJ-4 engine oil is intended for DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) type engines, and cannot be used on this vehicle."

I've been using Rotella T4 for all my diesels which says meets CK-4, CJ-4, CJ-4plus, CI-4, CH-4. So does this mean I need to use a different oil for the RTV that does not specify CJ-4? Or, does Kubota mean only those oils that meet only CJ-4 are not to be used?

(Dealer is closed at the moment so I won't get to ask him until next week.)

What spec does your manual call for?

It says to use cf or higher in the manual. I use amsoil signature max duty synthetic 15w-40.

Please continue to use the T4 that you use in your other diesels in your climate and not start another oil thread!
Good Luck!

I concur!

What spec does your manual call for?

The manual says:

For Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel [<0.0015% (15 ppm)]

Use CF, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4 or CI-4 Oil class of engines except External EGR

Oil class of engines with External EGR use CF or CI-4
(Class CF-4, CG-4 and CH-4 engine oils cannot be used on EGR type engines

Unless there is a typo or mis print looks like the CI-4 meets your standards. I'd run that and not look back. If the oil meets the standard you are looking for it doesn't matter what other standards it may or may not meet.
