I've rummaged everywhere, but no joy. Alternatively, are the FX24/FX28 models similar enough that I could use the manuals for one of those, and does have a copy I could buy?

Arf,

Afraid not. One is a 3-cly and the other a 4-cly engine. So, they are not the same for manuals.

You need info on a 4TNA78 or the 4TNB78 engine. Just depends on what one is in your machine.

There is a regular Yanmar TN engine service manual out there. It could be the best bet. Else the Hoye one could work for the Parts Manual.

We have a 3rd party OPS manual for the F235. It would be without the PowerShift as the F is the geared version. Very close.

Your machine uses the same engine.

I see this started as a very old thread, 2004. Danny Parker who replied back then, hasn't been working with Yanmars for over a decade now. He's gone invisible. I see his website is abandoned and for sale. No use trying to contact him.

I suspect he got burned badly when Yanmar sued their 1970's Authorized Dealers for selling US-Yanmar parts to owners of the imports.

The YTOG has the parts diagram manual for free. It might offer enough clues.

Join the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group.io for free. The manual you’re looking for is probably on there, and you can download it for free. Lots of good folks on that site.

Downloaded the parts manual with thanks, joined the YTOG, but no service manual for the YM180D, what I really need is the manual stick shift transmission service info, it seems the 180d has buried shift forks, so looks like ill have to split the reactor that seems quite involved, this would have been easy if the trany access plate accessed tops of shift forks or equivalent model design, this seems to be unique at the moment but grey or JD 650/750 might be the same but haven't verified yet.

Found some close to YM180D service manuals on YTOG YM195 and 650/750 but have not had a chance to check to see if there equivalent, anyone knows model equivalents better?

On the YTOG, you will also need to download the YM-1 Service Manual.

It's in English as well. Service manuals are a rare gem to have. We are grateful to those donations over the decades helping others.
