the ym240 is the us model of my yanmar. I bought a 240 manual off ebay for like $20 and it is an original yanmar printed in english manual for mintenence, covers engine 2pt hitch etc. Dealers here can tell you the closest us model then sel you that one, there are a few differences in mine but the only one i see is the throttle works in the reverse direction???

Well I bought this Murry Publishing manual and it is not very good. Full of filler information just to make it look like a manual, more than 1/2 the manual.

Not sure what you are considering "filler" material. If you are counting the safety section as "filler" then I'd respectfully have to disagree.

Many of the pages have been copied so many times it is hard to make out what is printed on it.

None of the pages should be copied. It is a copyrighted manual printed by us. If they really are copied please contact me offline.

Not sure but is is a poor job at best... sorry but i have worked in publishing for a long time and this manual looks like a high school project at best

I guess maybe you were expecting the glossy color manuals that come with the new Deere tractors or something. I've never worked in publishing so I guess I was just more concerned with the content than trying to make it flashy.

I guess since this is all there is I will just use the spec info.

Not trying to be rude but I'm curious what type of information you would like to see in the manual that was not included. The layout and type of information in the manual comes directly from the US versions that were published by Yanmar. In fact we added a lot of information that was not even included in the US versions.

Actually my manual that i bought on ebay was a service manual, but i do have the copied OWNERS manual that you have. The service manual tells the specs, like capacities of fluids weights, the gears, how to install new cyl liners replace 3pt hitch o-rings etc. Stuff like that.

Most of my objections come from the quality of the reproduction, drawings that are scant with missing lines and just poor quality and some are hard to make out. The troubleshooting pages the type is unclear the lines are broken as well as the maintenance and service pages. The advice for many of the lube and maintenance say ask Yanmar dealer. The controls and instrument page(photographs) is incomplete, no three point control or Draft control is ls featured. I do not need color or high gloss but I was expecting more on the in-depth of the features function. I do think safety is important but almost a third of the manual is devoted to this. Sorry i did not realize that Hoye Tractor published this or i would have kept my big yap shut. I guess when it came to value thinking that 40 something dollars (with shipping) was a expensive for what I got.

Well, I was going to just read all these posts and keep my mouth shut but just can't do it any longer. I am the owner of a ym2002d yanmar. The closest manual seems to be for a ym220/226 yanmar. Completely different engine as well as other things. My manual is about 1-1/2" thick and has got gobs of good info and I am really glad to have it. I really don't know if $70 is high or not but in my case I believe it is worth it because I do all my repairs and believe me I have had lots of them (vn tractor). I agree the quality of the manual is not what you would expect from a top publishing company. The real problem here are the words "grey market". Haven't seen one but I'm guessing if you own a Ym240 your manual is of better quality and more exacting on information. Rattled on enough here except to say I do not fault Hoye for their manuals. I believe they have made a valid and good effort to help us out with our "grey market" tractors. OK Carey, here I go, blah blah blah:D

Yeap new you couldn't keep out of it.But now give me Credit I tried to stay out of this one until I was brought up. It was tuff considering I spent YRS. in Graphic Reproduction started in Prod. and still did some equipment repair up until the first of last year.
So far I haven't needed a Repair Manual that is another reason why I bought my YM 2000 simple, well built and easy to work on and maintain. I could have been just like Robert and gotten myself in pretty deep from not being able to keep my big Trap shut And it could have just as easy been me since some of the statements was from a Professional Opinion. Probly would have if I would have bought one and the printing and quality was poor. May Not be all that bad now Aaron knows who to talk to if he may need some help fixing or getting another manual together. I'm sure Robert would and I would be glad to or have My Wife who's still a office manager for a large printing co. in Atl. Still can't live that one down since I got her stated in the business it can be a real PITA. at times. Plus that would be the least I could do as much advice Aaron has given me and others over the years:thumbsup:
Figured I could get in a little Brn. nose myself there :p

Not at all. I welcome your criticism. That is how things get better. I just want to be sure the criticism is accurate.

I do think safety is important but almost a third of the manual is devoted to this.

The manual is around 78 pages. 12 pages are dedicated to safety. I honestly don't think 12 pages of safety information is too much on a machine with so many dangerous parts. You may be aware of the dangers but you have to consider how many newbies buy Yanmars.

The advice for many of the lube and maintenance say ask Yanmar dealer.

I only see that in 4 places and they are related to setting the valves, testing injectors, and flushing out the engine block. Those are way beyond the scope of any operation manual.

Purchased the Yanmar service manual from supplier in the midwest. He advised as was a "grey" an exact manual was not made but did send a "us version that was similar."
Most of the pictures were illegible and text was not relating to anything close to my unit. (on some forums he will jump in saying, "I have that part.")

It was NOT a Hoye manual. I have bought from them in the past and received items next day .
