They did not kill any armored car guards. They did wound two on 2 separate days.
In the Miami shootout, one of the criminals was shot 6 times and the other 12 times, not 40-50.

The training film I saw many years ago showed the two armed guards being proned out face down in a parking lot and then being shot in the back. The film said they did not survive.

There was another shooting at about the same time as the Miami shoot out where the suspect was shot dozens of times and his x ray looked like an XMAS tree from all of the metal in his body. I might have thought that the XRAY was from the Miami shootout but I do remember the training film mentioning the bad guys being hit many, many times. It really does not matter how many times they were hit, the point was that they had fatal wounds and kept fighting.

As a side note I highly recommend strategypage to be added to your bookmarks. The site is run by some military HISTORIANS. Both have several books out they are great for history buffs. They also have some of the best analyzes of current events from a military viewpoint that I have found.

I have read the Strategy Page website for years. It is very good. Sometimes their editing gets criticized but I could care less about those nits. Some reports have new information but then cut and paste sections from previous posts. I don't really mind, since if it is interesting, it is good to reread. They do provide reports on areas of the world that are mostly/completely ignored by the mainstream press. Important places with important events that can and do impact the US. Some of the information on the site I have sent to other people thinking about visiting certain places that are not really safe. It is common to visit these areas by some people but it really is risky and the US embassy has warnings up but since other people visit these places other people can think it is safe without checking... They just don't know the current events that are happening as well as the long history behind these current events.

Jim Dunnigan is one of the owners/authors of the site and I have a couple of his books and spent a small fortune on the war games, errrr, simulations, he was involved with decades ago. He worked, and maybe still does, with the US government building simulations that would be interesting to read about.

And my point was these stories become like a game of telephone with the story being told much different than what really happened. I agree about the bad guys receiving fatal wounds, but not instantaneous fatality that let them keep moving.... its a fine line for the police ( or even you or me in a personal protection situation) to have enough firepower to stop the threat without it continuing on through the target and harming others a mile down the road.

Speaking of that, we had a horrible case here last year (just going through trials now) where a bunch of youths went to a park to fight another bunch of youths, firearms were discharged and a two-year old little boy was killed several blocks away from a stray bullet. Just awful.
