Markham toothbar and ebay grapple

I finally got a break from all the rain and installed my toothbar this morning it fits great. It will make a good accessory with the grapple when it dries up i will see how good it works.

A tooth-bar and grapple are two add-ons that really make a difference in all the extra jobs that you'll be able to do much easier.

I 'm thinking about getting a toothbar too. One question....will the bucket sit flat on a hard suface with the toothbar on the bucket? It looks like the teeth sit lower than the front edge of the bucket. If this is the case, wouldn't it be difficult to skim a pile of dirt off my lawn whithout digging down into the sod?

Yep, that is a problem with toothbars. You can no longer get the bucket lip truly flush with the ground. It is generally not an issue for digging but for scooping something up off the lawn or off a driveway you will leave about half an inch behind. The toothbar also limits effective use of FEL float position because once one of the toothbar tines hits something and tries to dig in there is a tendency for the bucket to "dump" which will then engage the rest of the teeth/tines and you are suddenly digging rather than skimming the surface.

Island tractor is right but its really easy to unbolt the toothbar so its not really going to be a problem for me. I dug up a pine stump last week and the tooth bar
made digging alot easier its worth every penny.

Agree. It is not such a hassle to remove when necessary and the toothbar is indispensible for digging.

I was thinking of calling Markham, sure looks nice. I've also been looking at toothbars that have slots at the mounting holes. If you need a quick pass with no teeth just pull the bar forward so as to get the shank notch released from the bucket edge and rotate the bar about the bolts back into the bucket and then you are toothless. Since all the forces on the teeth are taken by the tooth shanks that slip over the cutting edge of the bucket a slot should work. I'm sure Markham could do that mod when they build mine.

I don't know if it is EVER going to dry up here in NY. I don't dare take my tractor out of the barn...I can't remember the ground ever being this wet!

Nice toothbar and grapple! Just wondering - what do you figure your total cost was? (if you don't mind my asking)
