Marking your tools

I worked for a while at a place where you had to provide your own tools. Everybody just threw their tools on the floor and cleaned up at the end of the shift. I used purple spray paint. Eventually - everybody had their own color.

I worked for a small stone contractor as a laborer........If I broke a tool, he deducted the cost from my Friday night check...and drew a sketch of it on my check.

I learned years ago to mark my suitcases on the outside with something unique, because they all look similar coming off the belt and I’ve had others try to grab mine.

I use a sharpie on tools. I don’t loan tools, but occasionally there’s a work party for something and you’d be surprised who might accidentally try to improve their tools afterwards.
